The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps public libraries spark a love of reading. Through shared resources and collaborative committees, CSLP makes it easier and more affordable for libraries to host high-quality summer reading programs that enrich their communities. Any profit from the sales of materials is reinvested into our organization to make summer reading better for our member libraries and those they serve.
We provide:
-
Nationally themed programs with engaging artwork and slogans
-
Ready-to-use marketing materials and reading incentives like posters, reading logs, bookmarks, and certificates sold in our shop at https://shop.cslpread.org
-
Public service announcements and promotions that raise awareness about libraries
-
A comprehensive manual created around each of our themes that is chock full of programming and marketing ideas for all ages created by library staff
- Professional development to enrich library staff and improve summer reading programs for all
With the support of volunteers from our member libraries, we pool our resources to keep costs low and ensure families across the country enjoy the same high-quality programs and incentives.
Our Story
CSLP began in 1987 when ten Minnesota library systems teamed up to create a shared summer program for children—complete with a theme, artwork, and incentives. The model spread quickly, and today CSLP continues to grow while staying true to its core principle: librarians sharing ideas, expertise, and costs to bring every community a vibrant summer reading program.
